Have you ever found yourself spending hours and hours trying to undo problems that occur due to ambiguous terms? A classic example is where someone explains to a consultant how they process Xyz, which happens to be a term the consultant is familiar with. This sounds like a good thing, until you realize the consultant has an entirely different definition for Xyz! Hopefully you realize this before the consultant designs an expensive solution for you.
Well, this happened too many times to me, thus The Terminologist was born. The thing about the above example is that no-one is really to blame. The purpose of The Terminologist is to provide an environment where all the terminology in a project can be recorded, along with all the ambiguities that come from real life. It then provides you with tools to help make sense of it all, and bring this sense into the work that generally goes into a sizable project.
